MOON YOGA
The unrelenting critical, even hostile, voice in your head.
The endless list of chores and things you must get done. Thinking, analyzing, doing, fixing, controlling, projecting. Action-oriented, goal-oriented, competitive behavior. Controlling your feelings and silencing your voice. Logical and rational approach to your challenges. Judging and rejecting your body. Denying your powerful emotions. Quieting your intuitive voice. Our society is out of balance between masculine and feminine energies as the masculine has been overly encouraged and the feminine suppressed. It is time to find balance within ourselves. The balance of our lunar and solar energies. |
"Be the change that you wish to see in the world." ~Ghandi
You are a woman.
The moment has come for you to accept the wholeness of your being, to accept all of who you are, all of your emotions, thoughts, and desires. The moment has come for you to rediscover and reclaim your innate female power.
The moment has come for you to accept the wholeness of your being, to accept all of who you are, all of your emotions, thoughts, and desires. The moment has come for you to rediscover and reclaim your innate female power.
The Moon is a Symbol for the Feminine
Cyclical, cool, changing, and reflecting, she holds a strong sense of mystery. She is a reminder to women, of their own feminine nature. The cycles of the moon bring to our awareness our own cycles and our power to feel and intuit. We connect with her through rituals, practices, and disciplines that turn our attention inward, to process, rejuvenate, and rest. To self-express, to open to new possibilities and to re-evaluate new beginnings. The moon's light, soft and subtle, gently illuminates what is hidden and guides us back, if we let her, to the disowned aspects of our feminine nature. She holds the qualities of stillness, emotion, and nurturance, a she is a reminder of a time when these feminine qualities were appreciated and valued. |
It is time for women like you and I to rediscover, appreciate, and value the feminine qualities within ourselves.
It is time for the rising of the feminine.
It is time for the rising of the feminine.
"Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth." ~Buddha
MOON YOGA
MOON YOGA is a self-care practice coinciding with the cycles of the New Moon and the Full Moon. These classes were created and designed to guide you back to your moon, to the nurturing energies of the feminine, and to the voice of your inner Wise Woman. Outwardly thrusting, masculine energy, has not been kept in balance with the deep, nurturing energy of the feminine. What most women were taught to believe about being a woman, was through the patriarchy. Our society and our culture is top-heavy in masculine energy. We need to balance the scales! The classes I teach are NOT about hating on men, nor are they about the feminine rising and having power over men. That is just more masculine energy. The wisdom of the feminine, the feelings and emotions of a woman, her intuition, have been rejected and ridiculed for far too long. We judge our bodies and try to change them. We've been shamed into believing our menstrual cycle doesn't exist or that it's wrong or dirty. We've lost our sense of Self, what it means to be a woman in the rat race of life, by ignoring our gut reactions, by controlling our feelings, and by quieting our voices. I want to help you remember. I want to help you rediscover.
I want to help you reclaim your feminine nature.
Stay Wild Moon Child!
My dear sweet sister, it all begins with your willingness to reclaim what is rightfully yours. Your body is a physical connection to a greater source of knowing. MOON YOGA is an invitation to slow down and partake in a more meditative and introspective practice. These classes promote physical and mental relaxation and give you the opportunity to allow your emotions to flow, to listen and observe, and cultivate calmness, a feeling of deep, inner peace. We honor nature's beautiful rhythms and journey through our internal landscape, aligning with the empowered, elemental, cosmic, feminine energies. |

Shauna is a Register Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and is Yin Yoga Certified with Yoga Alliance.
She began her journey as a student back in the fall of 2014 when she decided to check out the Power Yoga class offered at her local gym. She practiced Bikram Yoga faithfully for over a year and then made the decision to enroll in Yoga Teacher Training. She has been teaching and practicing Hatha Yoga since June of 2014. Shauna taught several classes a week at a local yoga studio as well as the very gym where her journey began. Leaving the yoga studio just a month before the Covid pandemic hit, and furloughed from her new employer, she began teaching a weekly Zoom class. |
Over the months and months of lockdown, isolation, and social distancing, Shauna's own private practice grew and evolved in ways she had never imagined. She began a practice of "Being with Her Self" which involved being on her mat, with all her shit ... her thoughts, feelings, emotions, preferences, perspectives, beliefs, challenges and celebrations ... allowing herself to "BE" with all of it as she held postures for longer periods of time. She saw it as a beautiful way to heal and stretch at the same time, but what was happening was that she was moving towards a more Yin-based Yoga Practice.
Shauna's journey of self-discovery, personal development, and consciousness, along with her intuitive coaching skills and love of teaching, give her students the opportunity to create and hold a space for themselves. With lots of instruction and modifications, Shauna takes students safely in and out of poses and she offers them a way, through their own practice, to be more in harmony and relationship with themselves first.

TESTIMONIALS
There are so many things I love about Shauna's yoga classes - here are a few of my favorites:
Every week is a well thought out, different class. One week we may work on balance, another may be hip openers, perhaps we concentrate on stretching our shoulders, one week may be lower back and hamstrings. The point is, it is never repetitive and never boring.
It is very evident that Shauna puts a lot of thought, love, and preparation into her teaching. Shauna is a GREAT teacher. She gives a lot of verbal cues so you never have to wonder if you are doing a posture correctly; she explains exactly what you should be working towards. Additionally, she offers modifications for every posture so you can take it easy, or really challenge yourself. The classes are fun! Shauna doesn't take herself too seriously and can (and often does) laugh at herself. Shauna's classes are easily accessible. If you cannot make the live Zoom session, you can do the class recording at your convenience. I hope to be able to participate in Shauna's classes for many years to come.

My husband and I wanted to do some type of exercise class that we could do together. We decided we would try Yoga! We both had never done it before and of course we were so apprehensive about it. Our very first class was with Shauna and the minute we stepped into the yoga studio we knew we were in the right place. We immediately felt so comfortable and welcomed in her class. Since then we have done other classes and although the workout was good it didn't have the same energy/vibe that we were use to with Shauna. Her class not only keeps you toned and strong, it also is such a loving, supportive community of people that really lift us up and that is such an important part of it for us. She puts a lot of time and energy in each of her classes which is so beneficial for each person. Shauna is such an positive uplifting person, when we do her class it flows through into our day. We highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to feel strong, more toned, flexible, destressed, & meet a class of some of the sweetest, sincere, supportive & fun people I know!

My yoga journey started when I met Shauna in her class Have a Ball! That was a super fun class she was teaching at my gym. Before that I had been hesitant about yoga, because I felt my time working out needed to involve sweating. I thank Shauna for changing my mindset on this. Her classes allowed me to stretch, strengthen and sometimes sweat, while always reminding me of the importance of balance and fun! I was thrilled to learn that Shauna also taught at Joy Wellness I’m Salem, NH. I became apart of that wonderful community and enjoyed several classes with Shauna each week. She had left Joy to explore other paths and was very much missed. For a year now, Shauna began teaching on zoom (one of the positive takeaway from a terrible pandemic). Seeing her face, hearing her words and practicing with her again on Fridays has been glorious. I look forward to it each week, whether I join live or enjoy a recording. Thank you Shauna for being the first step and continued guidance on my yoga journey.

I came to yoga in my fifties. I was seeing my mother lose her mobility and it was frightening. I was hiking a lot at that time but felt I needed to work on balance and core strength. I took classes all over the place with no consistency. I found a class taught by Shauna and I now have a yoga mat in my car! The key to Shauna’s instructions during class, for me, is her verbal instructions which are impeccable. I can close our eyes and focus on the pose. I don’t need to look at everyone else to figure out what to do. Shauna knows the pose she is teaching and verbally explains it in such a way that it is understandable. She pushes us but also warns us of potential issues with all poses. It has been fabulous on Friday mornings during the pandemic!

I’ve been with Shauna and her teaching now almost 5 years. She is special. I come out of her class feeling better than I did when I started, even if I hated holding a pose as for as long as she asked me to. ! I really look forward to her classes.
